Covert Drone Video & C2: Umbra Link

Covert Drone Video & C2: Umbra Link

BLUF: Most advice on “how to keep a drone video link from getting jammed” assumes the link is already visible—then hops, adapts rate, or adds FEC. That helps after you are found. Umbra Link sells the other approach: keep the RF footprint below the thermal noise floor so standard spectrum analysis and passive intercept do not get a clean target. C2/telemetry first; video as a stretch with honest limits. In active development in our Indore RF lab; early access for Indian OEMs—not a finished product on the shelf.

Product home: Umbra Link.

Jamming Advice vs Detection Reality

Common engineering moves—separate C2 from video, hop under interference, drop bitrate, improve antennas—are sound for congestion and some jammers. Platforms like Doodle Labs Sense / Mesh Rider industrialize detect-and-hop. None of that makes the transmitter invisible.

If a passive receiver can see your video or C2 carrier, a jammer can be cued. Resistant to jamming ≠ invisible to detection.

Umbra Link is for programs where the failure mode is being seen, not only being jammed.

What We Sell on This Page

Layer Umbra Link offer
C2 / telemetry Primary early-access product use
Video Stretch goal in later phases—low res/fps evaluation possible; no HD promise
LPD claim TX designed below noise floor; invisible to standard spectrum analysis and passive intercept
Not claimed “Undetectable,” fake margins, military certs; TBD specs stay TBD

Keep critical control on the covert pipe. Treat video as optional payload that you may run at reduced quality—or keep on a separate policy—once phases allow. We will not market HD video resilience we have not built.

Practical Pairing (Honest)

Even with LPD C2:

  • Fail-safes when the link degrades still belong in the airframe
  • Do not assume below-noise-floor TX survives LNA overload from a high-power barrage
  • India de-licensed bands (2.4 / 5 GHz / 865–867 MHz): compliance intent, no unverified EIRP figures here

Waveform context: DSSS vs FHSS. Threat split: anti-jam vs LPD.
